Blog comes from the term web log. It is a constantly changing website that includes information, commentary, opinions, and advice about a topic. A blog is usually updated regularly with new posts and information. Some people maintain personal blogs, which resemble journals or diaries. Other blogs are professional in nature, where a writer shares expertise about a subject area. There are also corporate blogs, which are aimed at connecting customers with new information on a daily or weekly basis. For example, Newell Rubbermaid, a global marketer of consumer and commercial products, maintains a blog highlighting Sharpie writing products. You may also encounter blogs on major media sites, such as The New York Times, which are updated with opinions on major news events in real time. Blogs may include writing, video, graphics, and audio.

Twitter is a service that allows users to send and read messages, known as tweets. Tweets are short posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page. This type of messaging and sharing information in brief spurts is known as microblogging.

Facebook is a social network that allows users to find and add friends to a personal network. Once someone is your Facebook friend, he or she will see whenever you update your profile. You can let people know what you are doing, share personal news and gossip, or just comment on current events. You can also send private and public messages to any of your friends. Many companies use Facebook to connect with customers and prospective clients.
